My name is Lucas Graves, and I am the proud owner of AI Building Solutions. While our company is based in Kansas City, my journey began in the small town of Marceline, Missouri. I enjoyed growing up in a close-knit community, but even at a young age I knew there was more I wanted to experience and accomplish.

After graduating high school at 18, I moved to Kansas City and quickly found myself drawn to the construction industry. Early in my career, I had the good fortune of working for a business owner named Chris, who became a tremendous mentor to me. Under his guidance, I learned not only the fundamentals of construction and multiple trades, but also invaluable lessons about leadership, integrity, and running a business the right way.

At 19, I made the decision to join the Army National Guard, driven by a strong desire to serve my country. While balancing military service and construction work, I was later deployed to Afghanistan, where I served for 17 months. That experience profoundly shaped who I am today – instilling discipline, resilience, and a deep appreciation for teamwork and service.

During my deployment, I connected with a fellow service member who was a police officer back home. His stories sparked my curiosity, and after returning stateside, I took him up on his encouragement to do a ride-along. That single experience changed the course of my career. I was hooked.

I applied to several departments and was ultimately hired by the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department. I served five years as a patrol officer before testing for and earning a promotion to sergeant. One of the most rewarding parts of that role was mentoring young officers and newly promoted sergeants – helping shape their careers and supporting them as they stepped into leadership roles I had grown to love myself.

In 2018, my wife and I decided to build our own home. From the start, I knew I wanted to serve as the general contractor. Completing the build in just seven months and moving in during the spring of 2019 reignited my passion for building in a powerful way. That experience led me to open a home inspection business, which allowed me to deepen my understanding of homes from the inside out.

Soon after, I launched AI Roofing Solutions. While many people assume “A.I.” stands for artificial intelligence, the truth is far more personal – it represents my oldest son’s initials, Angelo Isaiah.

As the business grew, I realized I needed to focus fully on one path. I chose roofing and construction, knowing it would lead me toward my ultimate goal.

In 2022, I earned my Class A Contractor’s License on my first attempt – a milestone moment that allowed me to fully pursue my dream of building. Since then, AI Building Solutions has evolved into a comprehensive building company committed to excellence, craftsmanship, and integrity in everything we do.

Today, my passion is creating an exceptional experience for our clients – guiding them through every step of the building process with transparency, care, and pride in the final result. I am married to my beautiful wife, Rebeca, and together we are raising our three amazing sons, who continue to inspire everything I do!
